Hawtree arranges Colt Tour

Hawtree have just finished hosting a small Harry S. Colt Tour for a contingency from Toronto Golf Club, a Harry Colt course opened in 1912 that will go through an extensive renovation project this summer. Also attending were the selected golf course contractor who will perform the specialized works on the Toronto Golf Club. Other invitees included Rinkven Golf Club, Belgium, who is currently having an audit performed by Hawtree on their 36-hole golf course. The Colt tour included St. George's Hill, Sunningdale Golf Club, and Swinley Forest Golf Club as well as Tom Simpson’s creation, New Zealand Golf Club.

The Fall 2008 construction phase completed

Completion of the Fall 2008 construction phase of works - lasting about 2.5 months - was achieved just before the Christmas holiday season. A total of 29 new bunkers were constructed - both greenside and fairway - with two greens totally remodeled, using a specialist UK golf course contractor to perform the works. Further design work is underway for the next phase of work.

Yarra Yarra Golf Club at Melbourne, Australia finished the restoration of the bunkering at their 15th hole in late 2008. The project has been well received by the membership and the legacy of the celebrated golf course architect Alex Russell is kept intact.

Major course review for Rinkven GC

A comprehensive course review/audit has been started for the Rinkven Golf Club, located northeast of the historic Belgian city of Antwerp. The 36-hole course was originally 18 holes that opened in 1981, with a further nine holes added a few years later, with the last nine holes completed around 2003. Hawtree will work close with the club, and with a woodland management consultant, and consulting agronomist, to examine ways to improve the course's appeal, playability, beauty, playing characteristics. The review document, with recommendations, will be completed early 2009.

Royal Ostend GC starts construction

Construction work started in early October for a comprehensive remodel of the 18th hole at Royal Ostend, the 15th green, as well as several bunkers and tees on holes 4-7, 9-10. Works will be carried out by a UK-based specialist golf course contractor during three months, with Hawtree visiting the golf course during the rough and final shaping process. Royal Ostend is the only links course in Belgium.
