Ree Golf being updated

22 Jun 2009

The Danish course formerly known as Helsinge Golf Club changed ownership and the new owner is keen to improve on the course know called Ree Golf. Hawtree was called in to advice on possible changes and it was decided to change the 4th hole which had been causing the players many lost balls as the fairway was very narrow and surrounded by water. Hawtree widened and re-profiled the fairway to make it more playable. The change also included a new men’s tee which altered the angle to the fairway and made the hole much fairer. The course is currently reviewing the report prepared by Hawtree.

Cobh Golf Club opening

05 Jun 2009

On the 5th June the Cobh Golf Club abandoned their 9 hole golf course and moved down the road to their new 18 hole facility. To date the reviews have been flawless. Members admit the course is more of a challenge, but the challenge is fair and even the dreaded island green on the 10th is proofing a favourite. The course will continue to develop; the 500 trees will mature and areas of gorse still need planting. For the time being a temporary clubhouse will have to suffice, but the foundations for a great golf course and club have been laid and Cobh will be going from strength to strength in the years to come.

Woodbrook review

20 May 2009

Several years ago Hawtree won a competition to adjust the layout of Woodbrook Golf Club in a land swap deal with the Dublin Area Rapid Transport (DART), a suburban railway network in Ireland. They required a new station where the 2nd and 3rd hole currently existed in exchange for a new area of land close to the 5th and 6th holes. This project is delayed but in the meantime Hawtree have been commissioned to carry out a report on the golf course, concentrating predominately on the bunkers; their location in light of new golf equipment as well as, their style and condition.
